Melanie Simodi, E-RYT

I have  been practicing yoga for over a decade and teaching for the last six years.  I grew up in New Jersey and moved to the west coast – San Diego in the 1990s where I discovered yoga.  Up until then I was a blues singer and worked for an astrological publishing company.  When I moved to Washington State in 2004 I began my yoga teacher training program with Kathleen Hunt who has studied under Pattabhi Jois, Dharma Mitra and Sivananda, at Samadhi Yoga in Seattle.  Then, in 2006 travelled to India’s sacred sites with my teacher to further expand my yoga knowledge.   I have taught at Olympic College, Bremerton Tennis & Athletic, Silverdale Fitness, Dharma Yoga and various community and private classes.  I am a certified teacher of Sanskrit Mantra (Reverend) with Sanatana Dharma Satsang. under Namadeva Acharya.   Yoga has become a way of life for me because it touches every area of your being, physical, mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual.  It is a deep resevior of ancient knowledge and practices that can easily and richly fit into the tapestry of your everyday life.  Like the food you eat, the music you choose, the scents and colors you surround yourself with.  It’s an amazing journey that gets better and better.  Since I live my yoga I am a very passionate teacher!   I love and care about my students.  When you come to my classes regularly I will become your life cheerleader!  I sincerely want us all to help make the world a better place and that starts with you and me.

“Day after day, let the yogi practice the stilling of the mind, in a secret place, in deep seclusion, master of his thoughts, hoping for nothing, desiring nothing.  Let him find a place that is pure and a pose that is restful.  in that place let him rest and practice yoga for the purification of the soul; with his mind and prana stilled.  Let him be silent before the One.”  Bhagavad Gita
